Wearing Contact Lenses During Covid-19
In these tough times, these couple of months have been extremely draining emotionally, mentally and financially. Stepping out of your house feels like a risk this situation sometimes makes you vulnerable.

Being a contact lens brand, it is our responsibility to put out necessary and relevant information for your safety. So, let's begin with the basic and important question - is wearing contact lenses safe during the times of COVID-19.
Contact lens wear is safe during the COVID-19 pandemic as long as proper handwashing and disinfecting procedures are followed, according to three experts quoted in a press release from the Centre for Ocular Research & Education. (Source - healio, primary care Optometry news)
Before inserting or even touching the contact lenses, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water following by drying your hands with a clean cloth or hand towel.
The best contact lens decision would be to use daily disposable contact lenses as wearing a fresh lens on every use makes it more hygienic, easy to wear and no hassle of cleaning on every wear.
Things to keep in mind while using Contact Lenses:
- Do not be scared of wearing contacts - As of now, there is no scientific evidence which says that contact lens wearers have higher chances of contracting COVID - 19 when compared with glass wearers.
- Maintain good hygiene - As we all know that washing hands before using contact lenses is important, the same needs to be followed during these times. Just be more careful to practice good hygiene.
- Not mandatory that glasses are safer - Glasses may reduce face touching or eye rubbing, but there is no evidence that they protect against COVID-19.
- Temporarily Stop Wearing Contacts, if ill - Please make sure to discontinue contact lens wear if you become ill or suspect you have COVID-19.
Wearing contacts or glasses but remember to maintain good hygiene, wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, do not forget to wear a mask and gloves to keep yourself and everybody around you safe and healthy.
