Cleaning Contact Lenses: Top Tips & Care Guide

Contact lenses are a popular way to achieve clear vision, change your eye color and an alternative to traditional eyeglasses for vision correction. They require special care and maintenance to prevent infections and other eye problems. In this blog, we will discuss how to clean contact lenses and keep them in good condition.

Step 1: Wash Your Hands

Before handling your contact lenses, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Rinse your hands well and dry them with a clean towel. Avoid using soaps that contain moisturizers or lotions, as they can leave a film on your hands that can transfer to your lenses.

Step 2: Remove Your Lenses

Remove one lens at a time, starting with the same eye each time. To avoid confusion, use a system to remember which lens goes in which eye, such as always removing the right lens first. To remove your lens, place your index finger and thumb on either side of the lens and gently squeeze it. Then, gently pull the lens off your eye.

Step 3: Clean Your Lenses

Place your lens in the palm of your hand and apply a few drops of contact lens solution. Gently rub the lens with your fingertip in a circular motion for about 20 seconds. Be sure to clean all parts of the lens, including the edges. Rinse the lens thoroughly with contact lens solution to remove all traces of dirt and debris.

Step 4: Store Your Lenses

Place your clean lens in a clean contact lens case and fill the case with fresh contact lens solution. Make sure the lens is completely covered by the solution. Repeat this process with your other lens.

Step 5: Clean Your Contact Lens Case

Your contact lens case should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to prevent bacteria from building up. Rinse the case with hot water and then let it air dry. Do not reuse old solution in your case. Always use fresh solution.

Step 6: Replace Your Lenses

Replace your contact lenses as recommended by your eye doctor. Wearing old or damaged lenses can cause eye infections and other problems.

In conclusion, cleaning your contact lenses is an important part of maintaining good eye health. Follow these steps to keep your lenses clean and in good condition. If you have any questions or concerns, write to us at support@aqualens.in.
